Here are some answers to frequently asked (and some non-so frequently
asked) questions about Carl Howse and The Great Hootini. If you
have a question you would like answered drop us an email at carlhowse@yahoo.co.uk
or better still, book a show and Carl will be happy to answer all
your questions in person!
What age group is your
magic suitable for? The easy answer to this question
is
virtually all age groups. My magic shows are suitable
for Toddlers, 4 to 10 year olds, Families or just Adults. I pride
myself on being able to entertain an audience and make them laugh,
without being offensive or embarrassing anyone.
Where do you perform? Just about everywhere.
Client's homes, Sports Centers, Community Halls, Church and School
Halls, Town Halls, Hotels and Restaurants, Corporate Function Suites,
Shops and any outdoor event (providing it's not raining!) My shows
are self-contained and very flexible making it easy for me to perform
any size venue.
How much notice do you need? Not easy to answer.
I get a lot of repeat business and some people have booked me over
a year in advance. Sometimes people can book me for a show the next
day, it all depends. If you have a date in mind it's best to book
sooner rather than later.
Do you play Disco Music? Yes I do, I can play
Disco Music at childrens parties (4 to 10yrs) or I can play
background music to create a party atmosphere at bigger events.
Do you do magic at weddings? - Yes, I entertain the
guests during the slower moments after a meal or while the Bride
and Groom are having their photos taken. Its a nice way to
add a touch of magic to your special day! I also get asked to entertain
the children (a good time to do this is while the speeches are being
made)
Do you have a real rabbit? Yes I do, his name
is Henry and hes the real star of the show. He
is also my pet and friend and is very well looked after (spoilt!).
Does anybody work out how your magic is done?
No, because its real magic!
How long does it take you to make the really
big balloon models? - Normally about five minutes each.
Thats why I make them before a show, saving time.
How did you get into magic? It runs in the
family. My Grandfather was in the circus, he was the Human
Cannonball, he only got paid £2 a night (plus mileage!)
but they fired him in the end. They never found another man the
same caliber. My father did a disappearing act
. etc, etc.
Do you have a favourite magic trick? I have
lots of favourites, but if I had to pick one it would probably be
changing a £1 note into a £50 note this
always gets a great reaction. Making a live white rabbit appear
for the children is also high on the list, watching their faces
when they see him is very rewarding.
Are you telescopic? (I think they meant psychic)
I have tried a bit of mind reading and mentalisim when the surroundings
and atmosphere are right, but I dont like acting all serious
and mystical, its just not me. I once went into WH Smiths
and asked if they had a magazine called Mind Reading Monthly,
the girl looked at me and said You tell me!
Have you ever had a trick go wrong? Just once.
I was practicing on my cousin and to cut a long story short, shes
now just my half cousin!
I want to book a professional entertainer
with an energetic show filled with comedy, surprises and lots of
cool stuff. Who shall I hire? Freddie Star! If Freddie is
unavailable, then call 01330 825429 or email carlhowse@yahoo.co.uk
and I will gladly fulfill your entertainment requirements.
